OAKWOOD, Ga.—Senior Faridah Nalunkuuma (Kampala, Uganda) ran a personal best in the 6k event at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday night to lead Agnes Scott Cross Country to a 12th place finish. The Scotties were one of only two Division III programs competing in the 19-team event.
Nalunkuuma raced to 33rd overall with an impressive time of 24:45.7. Coming into the day the Scotties had yet to run in a 6k race, but that didn't stop the senior from running her best splits of the season as well for an average of 6:38. Nalunkuuma also ran two minutes better than her best 6k time from 2016.
Alyssa Willis (Apache Junction, Ariz.) and Ellie Vergura (Atlanta, Ga.) also ran strong races will taking their usual spots in the scoring lineup. Willis came in 89th overall, while Vergura was just 10 spots behind her teammate. They finished times of 28:35 and 29:45 respectively.
Isabelle Eiden (Chicago, Ill.) was the fourth Scottie to cross the finish line with a personal-best 31:00. Avery Moore (Mariposa, Calif.) was the final Scottie to score on the evening, finishing in 128th with a time of 34:49.
The Scotties head up to Berry next Saturday for a morning meet beginning at 10. It will be the final tuneup before the USA South Championships at Piedmont on October 28.
