    ROME, Ga.--The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2018-2019 Academic All-Conference Team. This season found 1,441 student-athletes earning Academic All-Conference honors, including 32 from Decatur.

The Agnes Scott Athletics Department celebrated the accomplishments and victories of both teams and individuals during the ceremony, as the 2018-19 academic year comes to a close.

    BEREA,Ky.—Agnes Scott Women’s Volleyball got the win it needed in the final match of the regular season to clinch a postseason berth in the upcoming USA South. The Scotties rebounded from a 3-1 loss to LaGrange in the first match of the day to beat host Berea in four sets.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball fell to divisional opponent Piedmont in three sets on Tuesday night at the Woodruff Gymnasium. Piedmont managed to win all three sets in very different ways as the Scotties applied pressure late with a chance to flip momentum around. The Lions found their groove late in the third to close out the sweep of the Scotties.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Maryville spoiled Senior Day for Agnes Scott with a 3-0 win at Woodruff Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties honored seniors Paige Heck (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Morgan Pearson (Pensacola, Fla.) before the match.

    ATLANTA—Agnes Scott fell in a closely contested three-set match at Oglethorpe University on a rainy Wednesday evening in the metro area. The Scotties fought back after dropping the first set, but Oglethorpe was able to outlast them over the final two sets to claim a 3-0 win. Oglethorpe topped the Scotties 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball put a check in the USA South Conference win column on Tuesday evening after cruising past visiting Brevard in three sets. The Scotties controlled the first set from the start before having to rally late in the second to put themselves in a great position entering the third. Agnes Scott took care of business by building a big lead in the third before eventually closing things out 25-15, 25-22, 25-18.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball fought tooth and nail with two of the best teams in the USA South West Division, but ultimately dropped a pair of four-set matches to Huntingdon and Covenant. The Scotties outscored the Hawks and blitzed the Scots in the opening set, but each seasoned opponent was able to put together enough runs to outlast the home side in each match.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball fell to USA South West Division leading Huntingdon 3-1 in non-conference action on Friday night. A rocking Woodruff Gymnasium saw the Scotties shake off a slow start to the night to push the visiting Hawks to the brink before the visitors were able to hold on 25-11, 17-25, 25-16, 25-22. The Hawks improved to 6-3 on the young season, while Agnes Scott falls to 1-9 entering conference play this week.

    TOCCOA, Ga.—For the second time in nearly a week, Toccoa Falls handed Agnes Scott Volleyball a defeat. However, unlike in the first matchup Agnes Scott was able to battle from two sets down to take the third game before ultimately falling in four sets. The Screaming Eagles won 25-15, 25-11, 19-25, 25-10.

    MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Agnes Scott Volleyball ended its stay in Alabama with a 1-3 mark at the Huntingdon Invitational after dropping a pair of three-set matches on Saturday. The Scotties dropped matches to N.C. Wesleyan and Auburn-Montgomery, a NCAA Division II opponent out of the Gulf South Conference.

The Scotties fell to Division II opponent Tuskegee in the tournament opener before sweeping the Owls of MUW in their final match of the day.
