  • Braun Introduced as Head Volleyball Coach

    DECATUR, Ga.—The Agnes Scott Athletic Department and athletic director Beth Vansant are pleased to announce the hiring of Anna Braun as head coach of the Scottie volleyball program, effective immediately. Braun served as the interim head coach for the entire 2017 season after a staff departure right before the start of the campaign.
  • Knott Selected to All-Divisional Team

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.—Senior Resa Knott (Atlanta, Ga.) was named to the USA South West Division Second Team as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon. The awards were voted on by the divisional coaches earlier in the week after the regular season concluded this past weekend.
  • Lions Top Scotties in Conference Tourney

    MARYVILLE, Tenn.—Agnes Scott Volleyball saw its time in the 2017 USA South tournament come to an end with a three-set loss to third-seeded Piedmont on Halloween night. The Lions’ offense was difficult to manage all night as the Scotties fell 25-13, 25-22, 25-15 in the first round.
  • Scotties Close out Regular Season with Tri Split

    LAGRANGE, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball split a tri-match with Berea and LaGrange on the final day of the regular season on Saturday. The Scotties made their they secured a playoff berth with a 3-0 win over Berea in their first match of the day before getting edged by the Panthers in the final contest of the day 3-2. The Scotties move up their mark to 8-22 and 2-10 in the USA South.
  • Scotties Fall to Tornados in Four-Set Battle

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball closed out its 2017 home schedule with a well-fought loss in four sets to Brevard College. The Tornados attack was stellar all night, but the Scotties fought back to win the third set and extend the match. Brevard took the overall match 25-18, 25-14, 20-25, 25-16.
  • Scotties Drop Two at Berry

    MT. BERRY, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball finished off a busy week with a pair of three-set losses to Sewanee and Berry on Sunday afternoon. The Scotties dropped the first match 25-13, 25-19, 25-22 to the Tigers before falling to the host Vikings 25-21, 25-10, 25-11.
  • Spirited Scotties Prove Tough in USA South Tri-Match

    DECATUR, Ga.—A furious first-match rally fell just short as Agnes Scott was swept in a home tri-match against Huntingdon and Covenant on Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties came all the way back from two sets down against the Hawks in the opener and came within a point of a complete comeback before the Hawks spoiled the attempt in a five-set thriller. Covenant handed the Scotties a loss in four sets to remain unbeaten in the USA South.

    DEMOREST, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball fell in three sets to Piedmont in USA South Conference action on Tuesday evening. The Lions looked in control from the very start with a 25-10 opening set before staving off the Scotties 25-19 and 25-15 in the final two.

    MARYVILLE, Tenn.—For the second time in as many meeting, Agnes Scott Volleyball dropped a 3-1 match to Maryville. The Scots had just enough to outlast the Scotties in first, second and fourth sets to secure a season sweep.
  • Scotties Beat Berea, Fall to LaGrange in Conference Matches

    DECATUR, Ga.—Scotties Volleyball earned a split of its first home conference tri-match with Berea and LaGrange on Saturday afternoon at Woodruff. The Scotties took care of business against Berea, but visiting LaGrange was able to avenge a 3-0 loss at the hands of Agnes from last week, beating them in four.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball held off a late surge from Oglethorpe to earn a split of a home tri-match with the Stormy Petrels and fourth-ranked Emory. The Scotties had to earn their money in a five-set victory of the Storm Petrels (25-18, 25-14, 19-25, 23-25, 15-11) before falling to national contender Emory (14-25, 16-25, 16-25) in the finale. The Eagles took down Oglethorpe in three sets in the middle match.

    BREVARD, N.C.—Agnes Scott hung tough all night, but new USA South member Brevard had enough answers to beat the Scotties 3-0 on Wednesday evening at Boshamer Gym. The Scotties fell to the Tornados 25-19, 25-23, 25-19.

    LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball fell twice at the hands of the top two teams in the USA South West Division on Saturday at Covenant. The Scotties battled to a 3-1 loss to Huntingdon in the opener before dropping a three-setter to the host Lady Scots in the day’s finale.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Fueled by a close loss on Tuesday night, Agnes Scott Volleyball rebounded in a big way with a complete sweep of visiting LaGrange on Thursday night at Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties got off to a hot start with a 25-17 first set and 25-19 second. The Panthers charged back in the third, but Agnes Scott held on with a run in the end to win 25-22.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Piedmont ground out a four-set thriller over Agnes Scott in the USA South home opener for the Scotties. The Scotties had their chances to take control of the match in the late stages, but the Lions had just enough grit to battle back for the big early-season win. Piedmont won overall 25-17, 12-25, 27-25, 25-22.

    MACON, Ga.—A dominant effort in the final match of the day helped Agnes Scott Volleyball earn a split on the opening weekend of USA South action at Wesleyan. The Scotties dropped a four-settle battle to conference contender Maryville in the opener before responding with their biggest victory of the season in a sweep of host Wesleyan.

    TOCCOA FALLS, Ga.—A well-synced offense paced host Toccoa Falls to a season sweep of Agnes Scott Volleyball on Tuesday evening. The Screaming Eagles broke open a close match with dominant performances in the third and fourth sets to take the match outright, 3-1.
  • Scotties Drop Two Five-Setters at Salem

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—Agnes Scott Volleyball had its two-match win streak snapped with a pair of grueling five-set losses at Salem College on Saturday. Dual comebacks by Salem College and Johnson & Wales (N.C.) put the Scotties on the wrong side of the scoreboard in back-to-back matches. Agnes Scott falls to 3-6 on the year.
  • Scotties Outlast Barons to Take Season Series

    MOUNT VERNON, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball completed a season sweep of Brewton-Parker College on Thursday night, besting the Barons in four sets. The Scotties and Barons were tied after two sets, but the visitors were able to win comfortably in the third before outlasting the home side in a marathon fourth. ASC won overall 26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 33-31.
  • Scotties Finish Off Five-Set Thriller

    DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Volleyball found them in a familiar situation after a fifth set was forced on its home court. The Scotties were able to shake off the tough fifth game in their home opener on Tuesday against Toccoa Falls and controlled the set from cover to cover to earn their second win of the season over visiting Brewton-Parker. Agnes Scott won overall 3-2, taking the match 22-25, 25-17, 28-26, 18-25, 15-9.
  • Blistering Offense Not Enough to Stop Screaming Eagles

    DECATUR, Ga.—A late run by Toccoa Falls in the fourth set unsettled Agnes Scott’s dominant rhythm in the middle games and the Screaming Eagles stormed all the way back in the fifth to spoil the Scotties’ home opener at Woodruff on Tuesday. The Scotties looked in full control after the first set, but some late heroics by the balanced Screaming Eagle offense was enough to pull off the thrilling victory: 25-23, 12-25, 15-25, 25-22, 15-9.
  • Scotties Notch First Win at Millsaps Invitational

    JACKSON, Miss.—The Agnes Scott Volleyball program kicked off its season with a 1-3 trip at the Millsaps Invitational this weekend. The Scotties faced plenty of top regional competition and picked up their first win of the season in the middle of the weekend with a shutout of Mississippi University of Women.
  • Volleyball Picked Sixth in USA South West

    FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.—Agnes Scott Volleyball was picked to finish sixth in the USA South West Division as selected by the league’s coaches on Thursday. The Scotties finished tied for sixth in the division last season, just missing out on a playoff bid by a tiebreaker.
