DECATUR, Ga.—Damira Augustin (Dacula, Ga.) got back in the swing of things with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles, representing Agnes Scott's lone point in an 8-1 loss to Maryville at Byers Tennis Courts on Saturday evening. Augustin stopped a two-match losing streak with a dominant performance in a win over Kayla Zimmerman.
The Scots had much success across the rest of the lineup, winning the other four singles matches in straight sets. Agnes' Xiaobin Zhou (Changchun, Jilin, China) took two games in the second set against Carter Dickson at the third flight.
Maryville won second doubles 8-0 and outlasted the Scotties' top pair of Augustin and Jacy Pippin (Atlanta, Ga.) 8-2.
The Scots all but guaranteed themselves a spot in the USA South Spring Festival with the victory.
Agnes Scott falls to 0-11 and 0-5 in conference action.
