DEMOREST, Ga.—Agnes Scott Tennis suffered a 9-0 loss at the hands of Piedmont in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions rolled through the doubles lineup and secured all six singles flights in straight sets to down the Scotties.
The Scotties (0-2) will continue to search for their first win of the season as they head into an early USA South Conference match on Thursday at Huntingdon. The Hawks finished a spot above the Scotties in the West Division last season.
Agnes Scott jumped out to early leads at the top two doubles spots, but Piedmont was able to flip the switch for an 8-2 win at one and 8-4 win at two. The Lions also took the third flight 8-2.
Piedmont carried its momentum into dominant performances in the first sets of singles' action, but to their credit the Scotties fought back in the second sets.
The two closest singles matches came from the fourth and fifth spots. Jasmine Keiler (Newnan, Ga.) dropped a 6-1, 7-5 result to Maggie Moody, while Camille Wilson (Cincinnati, Ohio) fell to Karina Rivera 6-0, 7-6 at the fifth spot.
