FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.—Caitlynn Croft (LaGrange, Ga.) won the weekly award for USA South Conference Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning strike on Saturday against Oglethorpe. Croft scored her second goal of the season at the perfect time to push Agnes Scott to its second triumph of the season.
Croft has given the Scotties a jolt on offense in two of the last three games with the third and fourth game-winning goals of her career. Her perfectly placed ball came at the perfect moment for the Scotties during a time of the game when both teams were scrambling to take the lead in a 1-1 contest.
The senior midfielder was able to collect a failed clear from 25 yards out and square up for an effortless looping shot tucked just inside the top corner to the left side. Oglethorpe's first-year keeper never stood a change on the attempt and Agnes Scott was able to lock down on defense over the final 12 minutes to preserve the win.
The Scotties are 11-1 lifetime in games where Croft has scored a goal, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Salem during the 2016 season.
Agnes Scott resumes regular season play on Tuesday when they host Sewanee in the final non-conference game of September.
