The Agnes Scott Athletics Department celebrated the accomplishments and victories of both teams and individuals during the ceremony, as the 2018-19 academic year comes to a close.

    LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.—The season drew to a close on Wednesday for Agnes Scott Women’s Soccer after falling on the wrong side of a 3-0 result at Covenant College in the first round of the USA South Tournament. . The Scots scored once before halftime and twice early in the second half to take control of the match.

    LAGRANGE, Ga.—The fate of the season came down to the flip of a coin for Agnes Scott Women’s Soccer after playing to a scoreless draw on a cold October Monday evening. LaGrange and Agnes Scott had their eyes set on a winner-take-all game before 110 minutes of 0-0 ball led to USA South Conference commissioner Dr. Tom Hart flipping a penny to decide who would move on to the conference tournament. Calling heads, the Scotties won two flips to earn a trip to Covenant on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • Mountaineers Sink Scotties with Second-Half Tally

    BEREA, Ky.—Sophomore keeper Abby Ackerson (Hoover, Ala.) made 16 stops, but it was not enough to keep host Berea from claiming a 1-0 victory over Agnes Scott in USA South women’s soccer action. The Mountaineers outpaced the Scotties 28-15 in shots for the game, but needed only one moment when Glendy Pineda scored in the 62nd minute.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Senior Caitlynn Croft (LaGrange, Ga.) celebrated Senior Day a first-half goal that ended up as the difference as Agnes Scott Soccer handed Wesleyan College a 1-0 defeat. The Scotties got into the win column in the USA South Conference for the first time this season, while Wesleyan fell for the seventh straight time in conference play.
  • Scotties Earn Academic Award from United Soccer Coaches

    KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Agnes Scott Women’s Soccer was a named recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award as announced by the USC last week. The Scotties earned the award, which is given to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, for the 14th time since 2002.

The Agnes Scott defense led by first-year Alyssa Bayus (Phoenix, Ariz.) held steady in the first half, but the Scots were able to capitalize with two strikes in a three-minute span to kick off the final half to outlast the Scotties on an unseasonably hot afternoon.

A short-handed Scottie side got a big boost from the junior midfielder when she lofted a ball too high for the retreating Tiger keeper to make a clean save on, sending Agnes Scott to its second consecutive victory.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Caitlynn Croft’s (LaGrange, Ga.) strike in the 78th minute pushed Agnes Scott Women’s Soccer to a 2-1 victory at home over Oglethorpe on Saturday afternoon. The Scotties overcame an early 1-0 deficit with a goal right before halftime and kept the game even until Croft lofted one over the head of the Stormy Petrel keeper for the eventual game-winner.

    DEMOREST, Ga.—The momentum of a season-first victory on Saturday was not enough to carry Agnes Scott Women’s Soccer to back-to-back wins for the first time. Averett scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute on a counter play that caught the Scotties off guard to register its first win of the year. For the second Sunday in a row, Agnes Scott found themselves scoreless on a game they dominated on the stat sheet. The Scotties were unable to finish off several key opportunities, including a penalty kick in the 80th minute that would have broken the scoreless tie in their favor. The Cougars used the impressive save on Zoey Perchaluk’s (Fort Erie, Ont.) penalty attempt and quickly turned the tables on the Scotties with the game’s only score less than a minute later. The Scotties held solid advantages in corner kicks (6-2) and shots (12-6), but only held a slim lead in attempts on net (4-3). However, only one stat mattered at the final buzzer. Averett defender Ashley Ruelo (Tampa, Fla.) scored her first collegiate goal, the eventual game-winner. Bailee Brown (Salem, Va.) made four saves for the Cougars, but none bigger than on Perchaluk’s penalty kick to keep the Scotties off the board. Abby Ackerson (Hoover, Ala.) made two stops for Agnes Scott in the loss. The Scotties (1-3-1) are off until next Saturday when they host Oglethorpe in the first of three consecutive home matches.

    DEMOREST, Ga.—Senior Zoey Perchaluk (Fort Erie, Ont.) scored her first two goals of the season in timely fashion to help Agnes Scott Soccer register its first win of the 2018 season, 3-2 over Emory & Henry. The Scotties scored the three middle goals of the contest and held off the rally-minded Wasps at the very end to kick off the Piedmont Classic.

    DECATUR, Ga.—Birmingham Southern won a wild game of momentum to upend the Agnes Scott Scotties in non-conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday at Gellerstedt Field. The Panthers used early goals from sophomore Sydney Barrow (Hoover, Ala.) to grab a 2-0 lead and held off a mid-game charge from the Scotties before landing on a 3-1 victory.

Alyssa Bayus (Phoenix, Ariz.), Journey Bradham (Dunwoody, Ga.), Sabina Gentry (Roseland, Va.), Skye Svehlak (Huntsville, Ala.), Val'Dazia Todd (Warner Robins, Ga.), Bethany Velarde (Wassenaar, Netherlands) and Riley Washington (Augusta, Ga.) officially become part of the class of 2022 when fall teams report in two weeks.
