DEMOREST, Ga.—Agnes Scott Soccer fell 3-0 at the hands of USA South West favorite Piedmont in the non-conference side of the two matchups this fall. The Lady Lions remained unbeaten at 4-0-1 this season, while the Scotties continue to look for their first victory at 0-4-1.
The Scotties will head to Sewanee on Saturday for the final game of a six-game road trip to begin the 2017 campaign. Agnes Scott's four losses have come against opponents with a combined 15-3-1 record to start the year.
After a quiet first 10 minutes, Piedmont was able to start to put pressure on the Agnes Scott defense. Piedmont's Sarah Weber (Decatur, Ga.) continued her sudden tear with her fourth goal in two games in the 13th minute. Weber tied the NCAA record with two goals in nine seconds in a 6-0 rout of Millsaps on Sunday before capping off a hat-trick.
The Lions took the 1-0 lead into the break, but were unable to add to it despite a 10-0 shot advantage after 45 minutes.
Jazmin Penado (Gainesville, Ga.) and Cassidy Reich (Largo, Fla.) each added goals early in the second half to put things out of reach for a Scottie comeback. Savannah Castles (Helen, Ga.) assisted on each of the first two goals of the game for the Lions.
First-year goalkeeper Abby Ackerson (Hoover, Ala.) made four stops in goal for the Scotties.
