DECATUR, Ga. - Agnes Scott College continued their strong start to the 2016 season with an overwhelming 10-0 win over Hollins University (0-1). The Scotties (2-0) dominated from start to finish, outshooting Hollins, 56-0.
Ashlyn Edwards put the Scotties on the board in the 18th minute, and tacked on two more goals in the contest for a hat trick. Sophomore classmate Caitlynn Croft scored two goals within two minutes of each other in the first half, and assisted with Edwards' final goal of the game in the second half. First-year Nia Coates also got in on the scoring action, driving home her first two collegiate goals. Fellow first-year Jasmine Young assisted on Coates' first goal of the game, then scored her own first collegiate goal less than a minute later. Aina Stratton was also involved in multiple scoring plays, as she scored her first goal of the season in the 49th minute, then assisted on Young's goal in the 52nd minute. Sarah Fisher finished the scoring for the day for the Scotties, lodging an unassisted goal in the 72nd minute for her third goal of the young season, having scored twice against Oglethorpe on Thursday.
The Scotties will continue their season-opening homestand on Wednesday, September 7, as they face off with Birmingham Southern, who have also started the season 2-0 after wins over Huntingdon and Belhaven.
