Lynx Tackle Scotties in Tournament Premiere

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Tournament host Rhodes broke open a close game after the first quarter to down Agnes Scott 68-26 in basketball action on Friday night. The Scotties got off to a good start, but cooled off from the field over the final 30 minutes to drop its fifth consecutive game.

The Scotties (1-5) will play Hendrix tomorrow afternoon in the tournament finale.

Agnes Scott played the SAA power tough in the opening period as Garis Grant (Charleston, S.C.) scored eight of the Scotties' 10 points. Grant tied the game at 10 late on an old-fashioned three-point play. However, the Lynx scored the final four points of the quarter for the 14-10 advantage.

Rhodes continued the streak well into the second period with 14 straight points before the Scotties were able to convert on a jumper from Erica Frank (Conyers, Ga.). Rhodes led 33-14 at halftime and never looked back on their way to the big win.

Grant registered most of the team's points with 16 to go with 12 rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

Eleven different Lynx players registered at least three points with Caroline Taylor leading the way with 12.
