EMORY, Va. - The Agnes Scott College basketball team struggled through the weekend, suiting up only six players as they kicked off 2016 by competing in the Comfort Inn Holiday Tournament, hosted by Emory & Henry. The Scotties dropped an 85-44 decision to the hosts on Saturday, before falling once again in the consolation game to future USA South opponent, North Carolina Wesleyan, by a score of 79-38.
Laniqua Collins was recognized for her outstanding play over the weekend, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. In the opener, she had a double-double, logging 13 points and 11 rebounds. In Sunday's consolation game, she led all scorers with 19 points.
The Scotties, who have dropped their previous 10 contests, will look to reverse their fortunes as they enter their final season of Great South Athletic Conference play. They face off with defending regular season champion, Salem College, on the road on January 9.
