Scotties Rally Falls Short, 69-56

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - Agnes Scott College fell to 1-10 this evening on the campus of Eckerd College, as the Spalding University Golden Eagles (8-1) took a 69-56 decision in the Scotties' last contest of 2015.  Grace Keheley and Natasha Banks each bucketed a dozen for the Scotties in the loss.

The Scotties fell behind by as many as 20 in the first half of play, before righting the ship and finishing the first half on a 9-0 run, heading to the locker room down by 11.  In the second half, they would close the gap to as close as 7 points, but in the end, the deficit at the free throw line was the difference maker, as Agnes Scott was whistled for 19 fouls in the contest, which led to 18 points from the charity stripe for the Golden Eagles on 18-for26 shooting.  In contrast, Agnes Scott went to the line 4 times on the evening, converting 3 of their opportunities.

Spalding also used their height advantage to outrebound the Scotties, 38-25, and also led the contest in turnovers, as the Scotties committed 17 to the Golden Eagles' 12.

The Scotties will return to action after the holiday break as they take part in the Emory & Henry Tournament in January.
