DECATUR, Ga. - The Agnes Scott College basketball team evened their Great South Athletic Conference record with a convincing 67-43 win over Wesleyan College today at the Woodruff Gymnasium. The Scotties (3-9, 1-1 GSAC) had four players in double figures, led by Shavonne Orr, who bucketed 21 to lead all scorers.
The first half of the game was all about the Scottie defense, as the team forced 15 turnovers, including 13 steals from the Wolves (1-12, 0-1 GSAC). The Scotties would get 16 points from Orr, and Brittaney Howard would add 9 of her season-high 13 points in the first stanza, as the Scotties raced to a 35-22 lead.
In the second half, it was more of the same as the Scotties would pick up 8 more steals to stifle the Wolves' offense. In addition to the contributions from Orr and Howard, the Scotties would also receive a double-double from Kisha Simpson, who finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Miranda Arnold finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Simpson and Howard led the Scotties with 5 steals apiece.
The Scotties will have a short turnaround before returning to the court on Friday night as they host Pensacola Christian at 6:00 p.m.
