FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.—Agnes Scott first-year Cecilia Siegel was a force to be reckoned with in six games that led her to be named the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week in softball. The rookie catcher was able to help lead the Scotties to break a lengthy winless streak on Sunday with a standout performance.
Siegel finished the week with nine hits in 18 trips while starting all six games for the Scotties. She also drove in 10 runs during the week, more than doubling the previous total.
Nothing compared to her day on Sunday when the Scotties split a wild doubleheader with Berea College. Siegel went 4-for-4 from the plate in game one while driving in five runs before adding another 3-for-3 showing to her belt in game two with another two RBI. She also walked twice in the doubleheader to make it a clean 9-for-9 in times on base.
The first-year is currently 23rd in the conference in batting average with a .380 mark and 26th in RBI. She leads the Scotties in both categories in her first season in Decatur.
