DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott fell twice in USA South action to Huntingdon on Friday evening at Oakhurst Park. The Hawks' top of the lineup was tough out all night long as Huntingdon took down the home team 11-2 in five innings before a 12-0 win in game two.
The Scotties (3-13, 0-4 USA South) will look to rebound tomorrow against at Truett-McConnell beginning at 2 p.m. The Hawks moved closer to .500 at 9-11 and 2-4 respectively.
The Hawks put up crooked numbers in three of five innings, scoring at least three runs in each of those frames. Huntingdon's top three hitters combined for seven hits and six runs scored to put the help put the Scotties in a deep hole early in the contest.
Huntingdon led 11-0 before Agnes Scott tagged on two runs in the bottom of the fifth before the run rule went into effect. Tiara White (Sinton, Texas), Cecilia Siegel (Plantation, Fla.) and Jessica Costero (Miami, Fla.) each had two hits to pace the Scottie offense.
Huntingdon's Kaci Cochran finished with a game-high five RBI despite only one knock in the game.
The bats stayed hot for the visitors in the series finale while keeping the Scotties off the scoreboard on the other end.
Huntingdon scored score three quick runs in the first two innings, but the 3-0 game remained until the seventh. Spurred on by Madison Perryman's grand slam with no outs, Huntingdon hung nine runs on the Scotties in the frame to put the game away.
Lindsey Self struckout a season-high 11 batters for the Hawks.
Alexei Young (McDonough, Ga.) and Kayla Quessenberry (Inverness, Fla.) each had two hits for Agnes Scott.
