DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott College Director of Athletics Allison Kern and the Agnes Scott Athletic Department are pleased to reveal the creation of the Agnes Scott Athletics Hall of Fame. The inaugural class will be celebrated in the fall of 2019 and an official announcement of inductees will come at a later date.
"I could not be more excited to finally announce the creation of our Hall of Fame. I want to thank our staff, particularly Athletic Communications, for all of their work behind the scenes over the last year to make this a reality," offered Kern.
The athletics department has a seen many come through our doors who have left a lasting impact on the history and tradition of Agnes Scott Athletics, and the Hall of Fame initiative offers a chance to share this unique and untold story. All-Americans, program record holders, and conference champions are just a few examples of former Scotties who will be enshrined in the Agnes Scott Athletics Hall of Fame forever. Those who have left a legacy on the development of athletics at Agnes Scott outside of the playing surface will also have their place among the inductees.
"We are so thrilled about the ASC Athletics Hall of Fame, which provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of past scholar-athletes. It also provides another exciting opportunity to enhance our overall student experience and connect with other constituents with whom the College might not otherwise engage," said Agnes Scott President Lee Zak. "I am sure the Hall of Fame will serve as an inspiration for our current scholar-athletes— a notable way to honor and leave a legacy."
A collection of Agnes Scott Athletics staff and other stakeholders will make up the Agnes Scott Athletics Hall of Fame committee and vote on potential inductees moving forward. An online nomination process is available on the website immediately with deadline dates for future classes to be made available soon, as will qualifying criteria for Hall of Fame consideration.
"This is a pivotal next step in the growth of Agnes Scott Athletics," Kern added. "It is a great time to be a Scottie!"
