DECATUR, Ga.—Agnes Scott Athletics announced the departure of Beth Vansant, who spent the last three years as the Director of Athletics. Vansant will leave Agnes Scott after 10 academic years to pursue other career opportunities.
Vansant was named the permanent director of the department in March 2016 after spending 14 months in the position on an interim basis. After initially coming to Agnes Scott to serve as the head athletic trainer—a position she held for five years—Vansant was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Sports Medicine by then-AD Joeleen Akin.
The 10-year Agnes Scott staffer oversaw the development and growth in several areas both within and outside of the athletic department.
"Beth has made significant contributions to the athletic department and to the Agnes Scott community," said Karen Goff, Vice President for Student Affairs. "Her commitment to the student-athlete experience has been central to her leadership, both as an athletic trainer and as the athletic director.
During her stay at Agnes Scott she played pivotal roles with new student orientation, the development of student affairs and athletics. She also guided the Scotties through the transition from the Great South Athletic Conference to the USA South Conference, where Agnes Scott is wrapping up its second year.
"I appreciate Beth for her exemplary representation of Agnes Scott," Goff added, "and wish her great success in her next chapter."
