Beth Vansant joined Agnes Scott in 2008 as the Head Athletic Trainer, and in 2013 she was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Sports Medicine.  In January 2015, Beth was named Interim Athletic Director after the promotion of Joeleen Akin to Associate Dean for Athletics and Student Activities.  On March 1, 2016, Beth was named to the permanent role of Athletics Director after helping Agnes Scott transition from the Great South Athletic Conference to their new membership in the USA South Conference.

While Beth was the Head Athletic Trainer, she coordinated the care of athletes for six sports and was responsible for educating the staff in areas related to Sports Medicine.  Beth also served as the NCAA Compliance Coordinator for 4 years.  As she transitioned to Assistant Athletic Director, her primary responsibilities included managing the athletic facilities and department budget, supervising the sports medicine staff, and providing internal support to the members of the staff, student-athletes, and community.  Now as Interim Athletic Director, Beth is responsible to provide leadership and supervision of a competitive athletic program that supports the development of students as leaders and scholar-athletes.  Beth’s well rounded experience in athletics has prepared her to take on this new role. 

During her time at Agnes Scott, Beth has been an integral part of many programs within the athletic department and across campus.  She has played a role in New Student Orientation since 2009.  She serves as a member of the Safety Protocols Team and a staff representative on the Board of Trustees Committee for Business and Finance.   In 2012, Beth took the lead in applying for, and winning, the NCAA CHOICES Grant for an alcohol education program. Beth continues to play a role in the campus-wide program which is called Smart Scotties, Smarter Choices. 

Prior to her start at Agnes Scott, Beth spent one year as a clinical athletic trainer for Progressive Health Aviation Services where she served as a rehabilitation specialist for Delta Airlines employees who were injured on the job.  From 2004-2007, Beth served as the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Coordinator at Point University, formerly Atlanta Christian College.  While working full-time there, she obtained her Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University (2007).  Beth has also been a part-time instructor and tutor at GSU teaching undergraduate exercise science classes. 

Beth obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedarville University in Ohio in 2003.  She is certified nationally by the NATABOC since 2004 and is a licensed athletic trainer for the State of Georgia.  Beth currently serves as the Georgia Athletic Trainers’ Association Treasurer.   In addition, Beth holds an instructor’s certification to teach First Aid and CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. 

Beth, originally a native of New Jersey, currently resides in Sharpsburg, GA with her husband Andrew and daughter Avery.
